take the dictionary now...

I have been mulling words lately, and for some reason I was reminded of the third, and oft overlooked, defintion of the word 'prostitute'. Wouldn't you know it states " a person who deliberately debases his or her talents". The unspoken portion of that definition is: in exchange for X,Y,Z. Next time you are writing or working, and are not doing the very best job that you can, you are just another prostitute on the job. Everyone has stayed up too late and cranked out papers or projects that certainly weren't the greatest (in exchange for a degree), however, I never considered all the different words that could be attached to such decisions. You crank the paper out, catch a few zzz's and go turn that puppy in for grading.
Really though, one could be quite silly about it and claim that currently the entire formal education process is nothing more than an exercise in intellectual prostitution. Not that I am dissing school, I just wonder sometimes if the bureaucratic processes get in the way of the real learnings... It will be neat to see how education is organized in the KoG.

Words are great, sometimes a little too illuminating, but great none the less.
With that said, there is a good chance that I have been spending too much time picking beans this week, as when else would such thoughts come?

hmm... any thoughts? comments? concerns?

I'm thinking you might be onto something with the intellectual prostitution thing. Crystal and I were just talking about the whole education in the Kingdom topic today. I wish I could get a head's up on what it's going to be like, and do that with William now.

You mean I'm a hooker for academia??? I guess I am.

And a cheap one at that.

I enjoy your writing.
